 2018 Membership
Added: 04 Feb 2018
After a very successful mini-summit at the Ardshiel in November, we now have a larger committee who are helping us move things forward. Those now on board are as follows:

Niall Macalister Hall, Torrisdale Estate and Beinn an Tuirc Distillers
John Bell, Ashbank Hotel, Carradale
John Beverage, Dunlossit House, Machrihanish
Ken Deacon, Isle of Gigha Hotel
Marion MacKinnon, Ardshiel Hotel, Campbeltown
Nick Fletcher, Argyll Hotel, Bellochantuy
Stewart Rafferty, West Loch Shores, Tarbert

If you would like to join the committee then we would be delighted to hear from you.

The organisation is still a member of Argyll and the Isles Tourism Co-operative (AITC) and we still maintain the Explore Kintyre and Gigha website.

In 2017 we had a very busy year, and the majority of people have reported an increase in visitors over the past 12 months. We have been working tirelessly, both as an individual group and with the wider AITC network, to improve communication, skills and training, the visitor experience and in marketing the area as a whole. Some further details are below:

- Involved in organising the Mark Beaumont ’Wild About Argyll’ marketing campaign. Various film outputs were launched in 2017, which promoted all areas of Argyll, and a variety of activities
- We continue to sit on the Campbeltown to Ardrossan Ferry Group
- We organised World Host Training and Digital Tourism Scotland training and would encourage all member businesses to take part in.
- We recently assisted STV & The Big Issue on articles to help promote the area through national media outlets
- AITC attend trade shows and expos, including the Scottish Expo on an annual basis, and the Best of Britain and Ireland.

We would like to invest some finds this year in the development of an events calendar, on which we are working very closely with Explore Campbeltown, and also on undertaking some marketing activities to particularly promote the shoulder months of the year.

Membership costs just £75 a year, more is available if you email explorekintyre@gmail.com
