Mitchell's Glengyle Dalriada Connections Concert

25th August | 2.00pm - 5.00pm
This year’s Mitchell’s Glengyle Dalriada Connections Concert takes place on August 25 in Campbeltown Heritage Centre. The afternoon concert which celebrates the historic links which were forged during the creation of the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada headlines with Chris Stout and Catriona Mackay who will be joined by Ceólta, Western Sound, Na Smeòraich, The Ross Conner Trio, Scooter Muse, Frank Rochford and many local and visiting musicians.

Chris Stout and Catriona MacKay have their roots in Scottish Traditional music and have a sound and live set that is both dynamic and adventurous. Chris is from Fair Island, one of the Shetland Islands and Catriona is from Dundee and have played together for around 20 years. They have collaborated on many projects and are both members internationally acclaimed band Fiddlers Bid.

Based in the North of Ireland, Ceólta is an exciting group whose members have many years of experience on the traditional scene. They produce a vibrant sound, playing an array of instruments on self -penned and traditional arrangements. Ceólta has three members, Ciaran Mulholland on fiddle, Paul Mc Kernan on Uillean Pipes and Mark Carmichael on Uilleann and Highland pipes as well as guitar, bouzouki and whistles.

Local folk group Western Sound return having made their debut last year. Also performing are a young 5 piece Tarbert based folk group Na Smeòraich. The 5 young girls have won the Oban folk group competition 2 years running, came second in the national Mòd under 13 folk group competition last year and were also a support act for Eddie Reader when she performed in Tarbert.

The Ross Conner Trio, Scooter Muse from Alabama USA and Frank Rochford are amongst the many local and visiting musicians who will also feature at this value for money concert which has become one of the hidden gems of the weekend at £12 a ticket including a whisky miniature.
